JaanoQ is built around one simple idea: students should be able to ask questions without hesitation and learn from useful answers without feeling judged.
Whether you’re asking your first question, helping another student understand a difficult chapter, or participating in a discussion, your contribution can make the JaanoQ community better.
These Community Guidelines explain the kind of community we want to build and the behavior we expect from everyone using JaanoQ.
1. Learn, Don’t Just Collect Answers
JaanoQ is a learning community, not simply an answer database.
When asking a question, try to understand the concept behind the answer.
When answering someone else’s question, explain the reasoning whenever possible instead of posting only the final answer.
For example:
Less helpful:
Answer: 42
More helpful:
The answer is 42 because we first apply the formula and then substitute the given values…
A short answer can be correct, but a clear explanation can help another student learn.
2. Ask Clear and Specific Questions
Good questions make it easier for others to provide useful answers.
When asking a question:
- Explain what you are trying to understand
- Mention your class and subject when relevant
- Include the chapter or topic where appropriate
- Share the complete question
- Upload a clear image if the question comes from a textbook or worksheet
- Explain what you have already tried when possible
Instead of:
“Solve this.”
Try:
“Class 10 Maths, Quadratic Equations — I reached this step but don’t understand how to factorize the equation. Can someone explain it?”
You don’t need to write a perfect question. Just provide enough context for someone to understand what you need.
3. Help Other Students
If you know the answer to someone’s question, consider helping them.
A useful answer should ideally be:
- Relevant to the question
- Easy to understand
- Mathematically or factually accurate
- Explained in a way appropriate to the learner’s level
- Written in your own words
You don’t need to be an expert to answer a question. However, if you’re uncertain, avoid presenting a guess as a fact.
4. Correct Mistakes Respectfully
People make mistakes—including students, contributors, and sometimes JaanoQ itself.
If you notice an incorrect answer, explain what is wrong rather than attacking the person who posted it.
Instead of:
“You don’t know anything.”
Try:
“I think there may be an error in step 2. The sign should be negative because…”
The goal is to improve the answer, not embarrass the person who made the mistake.
5. No Bullying or Harassment
JaanoQ should be a place where students feel comfortable asking questions.
Do not:
- Insult other users
- Mock someone’s academic ability
- Make fun of spelling or grammar mistakes
- Send threatening messages
- Repeatedly target another user
- Encourage others to harass someone
- Use abusive language toward another member
Disagreement is allowed.
Personal attacks are not.
6. Keep Discussions Respectful
You may disagree with an answer, explanation, method, or opinion.
That’s normal.
When disagreeing, focus on the idea, not the person.
Good:
“I got a different answer because I used another method. Here’s how I calculated it…”
Not helpful:
“You’re completely wrong. You don’t understand this.”
Different approaches can sometimes lead to the same correct result. Explain your reasoning and allow others to evaluate it.
7. Don’t Share Personal Information
For your own safety and the privacy of others, don’t post sensitive personal information publicly.
This includes:
- Phone numbers
- Home addresses
- Personal email addresses
- Passwords
- Bank or payment information
- Government identification numbers
- Private photographs
- Private conversations
- Personal information belonging to another person
If someone asks you for sensitive personal information through JaanoQ, do not share it.
If you see someone else posting sensitive information, report it to us.
8. Respect Other Students’ Privacy
Never publish someone else’s private information without their permission.
This includes classmates, teachers, parents, friends, and other JaanoQ users.
Do not use JaanoQ to expose, embarrass, threaten, or identify someone.
9. No Spam
JaanoQ is an educational community, not a place for unsolicited promotion.
Avoid:
- Repeated promotional posts
- Irrelevant links
- Copy-pasted advertisements
- Repeatedly promoting the same website or service
- Promotional messages unrelated to the discussion
- Posts designed primarily to drive traffic somewhere else
Relevant educational resources may be shared when they genuinely help answer a question, but they should not be used as disguised advertising.
10. Don’t Manipulate Votes
JaanoQ’s voting system is intended to help the community identify useful questions and answers.
Do not manipulate votes by:
- Creating accounts to vote for yourself
- Asking friends to artificially increase votes
- Paying or rewarding people for votes
- Coordinating fake voting
- Downvoting content simply because you dislike the person who posted it
Vote based on the usefulness and relevance of the content.
11. Don’t Copy Other People’s Work
If you use someone else’s explanation, solution, article, image, or other material, don’t present it as your original work.
Whenever appropriate, give credit to the original source.
Avoid copying large portions of copyrighted material simply to answer a question.
Instead, explain the concept in your own words.
12. Academic Integrity Matters
JaanoQ exists to help students learn—not to help them bypass academic rules.
Do not use the platform to:
- Cheat during an examination
- Impersonate another student
- Complete restricted assessments dishonestly
- Submit another person’s work as your own
- Help someone violate their school’s academic rules
Using explanations and worked examples to understand a concept is encouraged.
Using them to misrepresent someone else’s work as your own is not.
13. Keep Content Appropriate for Students
JaanoQ may be used by school students, so content should remain suitable for an educational environment.
Do not post:
- Sexually explicit material
- Graphic or disturbing content
- Content encouraging dangerous behavior
- Threats or violent content
- Hate or discriminatory content
- Content intended to exploit or harm minors
- Links to inappropriate websites
Educational discussions about sensitive subjects may sometimes be appropriate, but they should remain relevant, factual, and suitable for the context.
14. Don’t Spread Deliberately Misleading Information
Everyone can make an honest mistake.
However, deliberately posting false information or misleading explanations can harm other students.
Before posting an answer:
- Check your calculations
- Verify important facts
- Read the question carefully
- Avoid guessing when you’re uncertain
If you discover that your answer was wrong, correcting it is encouraged.
Being wrong isn’t the problem. Refusing to correct a known mistake is.
15. Use the Right Class and Subject
JaanoQ organizes educational content by class, subject, chapter, and topic.
When asking a question, select the most accurate category available.
For example:
Class: 10
Subject: Science
Chapter: Life Processes
This helps other students find relevant questions and helps JaanoQ organize its educational content.
If a question relates to multiple concepts, choose the category that best represents the main topic.
16. Don’t Create Duplicate Questions Unnecessarily
Before posting a new question, consider searching JaanoQ to see whether the same or a very similar question has already been answered.
If an existing question already solves your problem, you can use that discussion.
However, if the existing explanation doesn’t address your specific difficulty, asking a new question is completely fine.
The goal is not to prevent questions. The goal is to reduce unnecessary duplication while keeping useful discussions easy to find.
17. Report Problems Instead of Starting Fights
If you see content that violates these guidelines, don’t start an argument with the person who posted it.
Use the available reporting option or contact us.
You can report:
- Spam
- Harassment
- Inappropriate content
- Incorrect or misleading information
- Privacy violations
- Copyright concerns
- Suspicious activity
- Other content that appears to violate JaanoQ’s rules
When reporting something, provide enough information for us to understand the issue.
18. Moderation and Content Removal
JaanoQ may review reported content and take appropriate action.
Depending on the situation, we may:
- Remove content
- Edit or restrict content
- Add warnings
- Limit an account’s ability to post
- Suspend an account
- Permanently restrict an account
- Take other reasonable measures to protect the community
We may consider the severity, context, frequency, and potential impact of the behavior when deciding what action is appropriate.
Not every disagreement or mistake will result in account action.
19. These Guidelines May Evolve
Online communities change over time, and so will JaanoQ.
We may update these Community Guidelines when new situations arise, new features are introduced, or we learn better ways to protect the quality and safety of the community.
The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page indicates when the guidelines were most recently updated.
20. The JaanoQ Standard
Before posting something, ask yourself:
Is it useful?
Is it respectful?
Is it appropriate for a student community?
Would I be comfortable if my teacher, parent, or classmate saw it?
If the answer is yes, you’re probably contributing in the right spirit.
Build the Community You Want to Learn In
JaanoQ becomes more useful when students help one another.
Ask questions when you’re stuck.
Explain concepts when you can.
Correct mistakes respectfully.
Give credit where it’s due.
And remember that there’s a real student on the other side of every question.
Learn together. Help each other. Keep JaanoQ useful.
